What Is Traditional Thai Massage?

Traditional Thai Massage, also known as Nuad Boran, is a time-honored form of therapeutic bodywork rooted in ancient healing wisdom. During a session, clients rest comfortably on a floor mat while our skilled practitioner applies rhythmic pressure, gentle stretching, and targeted compression along the body's energy lines.

This holistic technique helps stimulate internal organs, release muscle tension, and enhance overall flexibility and well-being.

Preparation Before Thai Massage

Preparation Before Thai Massage

Guests receiving a Thai massage generally do not require special preparation. However, the following steps are recommended:

Arrive 10 to 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment. This allows ample time to complete any necessary forms, especially if it is your first visit.

Disclose your health information: Before the session begins, please inform the therapist of your medical history. Certain conditions may require modifications or may not be suitable for Thai massage. Full disclosure allows our therapists to provide the safest and most effective treatment.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid tight-fitting garments as they can restrict movement during the massage. Some venues also provide changing facilities and comfortable attire.

Thai Massage Procedure

Thai Massage Procedure

The steps of a Thai massage may vary depending on the therapist’s technique and the type of massage. The main steps typically include the following:

  1. The therapist may ask you to change into the provided clothing. In some cases, you may be asked to wear loose-fitting garments that allow freedom of movement.
  2. While you change, the therapist will prepare the massage mat on the floor along with a supportive pillow.
  3. The therapist will begin by gently stretching various parts of your body, sometimes applying pressure to assist the stretch.
  4. Using hands, thumbs, elbows, and knees, the therapist applies rhythmic pressure along different areas of the body.
  5. In some sessions, the therapist may guide your body into yoga-like positions by pulling and stretching.
  6. Some people may experience mild discomfort or muscle soreness during the session. Always communicate with your therapist to adjust the pressure as needed.
